Private studios sometimes promote an atmosphere of competition between students, hoping to prepare students for a "dog-eat-dog" world. But within The Green Room, we have a different philosophy. Certainly Green Room students attend countless auditions and competitions, and our students' success stories prove that Green Room students do very well in the "real world." Green Room students consistently place high at adjudicated festivals and competitions, earn leading roles in shows, and frequently receive solos wherever they choose to sing or play. But we believe that each student has his or her own uniquemusical gift to develop. We believe it will develop better in an atmosphere that promotes cooperation, support, and growth. Green Room students develop a special bond through their mutual respect for each others' talents and confidently support each other in every endeavor. We're exceptionally proud of that.

In recent years, three Green Room Students have been selected as the Number 1 ranked singer in their section for the Southern Illinois District for All-State. This is a tremendous accomplishment as these students are chosen out of hundreds of singers through an intense audition process.
Since The Green Room joined the National Federation of Music Clubs in 2009, Green Room students have won the Missouri Federation of Music Clubs' State Vocal Competition SIX times including these remarkable students:

In March of 2018, Rebecca Hackett received 1st place in District IV, Virtuoso Club's piano competition and advanced to compete at the Missouri Federation of Music Clubs' State Piano Competition.
In 2011, recent Green Room alum, Audri Lucasey was part of the duo band Audri & Aaron who were chosen as the winners of Maurice's Small Town Sound competition, with their original song "Home."
In 2010 Green Room alum, Molly Simms, was chosen by the Riverfront Times as St. Louis' best female vocalist and in 2016, the Riverfront Times named her St. Louis' best singer-songwriter!
